Project objectives :
To promote in the Transport and Public Utilities (Water and Energy) sectors in East Africa and Indian Ocean countries sustainable and environmentally friendly investment and inter-enterprise cooperation agreements in order to increase the competitiveness of the Region.
To support these sectors by promoting investment opportunities and enabling entrepreneurs to negotiate and possibly conclude partnership agreements.
Project implementation :
Phase 1 :
- Profiling of most adapted target participants and relevant projects ;
- Development of sector studies in each 38 countries.
Phase 2 :
Identification of ACP participants, assessment and pre-selection project opportunities ;
Customized technical assistance to selected project promoters ;
Identification and mobilisation of EU and third countries potential partners ;
Projects' matching process between promoters and EU potential partners ;
Mobilisation of other relevant stakeholders from the EU and the ACP regions (Ministries, Chambers of Commerce, professional organisations, investment promotion agencies, internation financial institutions;
Organisation of promotional activities (press relases, brochures , website, newsletters, promotional séminars) ;
Preparation of a Regional Partnership Meeting (350 participants).
Phase 3 :
Organisation and monitoring of two partnership meetings : in Accra, Ghana, from 30 november to 2 december 2005 (350 participants from 43 countries), in Addis Abbaba, Ethiopia, from 7 to 9 June 2006 (550 participants from 45 countries);
Organisation of one-to-one meetings (500 BtoB meetings in Accra, 1 500 in Addis Abeba), thematic workshops, plenary sessions.
Phase 4 :
Analysis of tangible projects/partnerships fruitfully discussed during the meetings ;
Customized assistance to projects/partnerships (marketing studies, technical survey, HR advice, assistance to obtain further financial support, ...).
